This looked like the correct forum area to post and if not, my apologies.
What's going on with Chesky Records?
Are they having problems and running out of money to fill orders?
I've been an audiophile for 20 years and like all of you, I look to purchase great recordings .
Chesky Records was always one of the best.. Like most mail order companies (prior to online purchasing), Chesky Records always delivered your purchase within a week or two.
Patricia Barber. I am not a classical music fan so I can't compare with any of that but this may be the best soundling live recording I have heard. The music ain't bad either.
I am not sure if this is the correct forum, but....
I have a 6-year old daughter who loves to sing (performs, sings in a choir, etc.). Does anyone have suggestions for recordings to buy / play for her?
Diana Krahl comes to mind as outstanding vocals well-recorded, butI don't know much about her.

One of the great joys of The Absolute Sound is its recording reviews, artist features, and genre compilations. Through these sources I have purchased alot of enjoyable recordings that I doubt I would have know of otherwise. Unless I can't find it here, I'd strongly suggest adding a section on this website containing the historical (and current) work that many contributors have made to the magazine.

Does anyone know how many mins of recording an audio CD can carry when the music has been recorded at full 44kHz/16 bit resolution? Is this a good way to assess whether an audio CD one is buying has overly compressed recordings (i.e., if the answer to the question above is 50 mins for sake of the example and you buy a CD with 120 mins worth of music on it, then one knows that the audio resolution is going to be sub-standard)? Thx
Yesterday I got the new Audio Fidelity CD of this great 1985 Cars album. I still spin my old scratched original vinyl every now and then because I like this record alot. Nothing could have prepared me for the outstanding sound of this CD. All the hype on the Acoustic Sounds web site is right on and more!
I've been a music guy pretty much most of my life. My critical listening began in 1957 when Uncle Harry offered me a 2 piece Webcor HI FI featuring a detachable 8" speaker. WOW....
These two made outstanding recordings in the 70's for Vox, of all companies! Their recordings were known for their full rich natural sound. Many were made with Leonard Slatkin and the St. Louis symphony orchestra. Some of these were remastered by Mobile Fidelity and have the best sound I have ever heard on SACD!
My favorite is a Gershwin album which includes "Catfish Row"(from Porgy & Bess), "An American in Paris" and "Rhapsody in Blue."
There is also a fine Prokofiev album as well as a Ravel album. Does anymore know of other recordings by this team of Nickrenz and Aubort?
