Has anyone seen the Intel commerical on TV with the man waving his arms-maybe conducting with what sounds like to me classical music in the background? If so, can someone identify the that particular piece of music . With what little I could hear of the music it had a beautiful sound..!

Thanks,  Jack Yerkes

Anyone had ever listen to "Omnimi" music? I've been pleasantly surprised with the odd combination of classical choir and ethnic elements. You could say that they sound like E.S. Posthumus or Globus. Their entire first album is streamable from their website, and i totally recommend it!

Anyone have a favorite performance/recording of this classic?  Sound off.

After contemplating the cost for awhile, I decided to get the new Esoteric 14 SACD boxset of Solti Ring Cycle.
Considering that it cost almost twice as much as Testament's recent release of the original London/Bayreuth recording and
that I already own the original London CD release of the set plus 30% import tax, I was rather worried that this was

I'm new and don't know where this should go.  This Naxos recording has some of the best classical vocal rendtion known to me.  Enchanting if melancholic opera in English.  Just got it.  Saw it in London on a two week stay.  At the time couldn't wait for intermission to slug back a couple of whiskeys, I have to confess, but my tastes have expanded a lot since then.  Endearing to me now and I'm serious about the recording.  Large stage, large house, fine placement and very fine realism to the vocalists.  Ya'll be cool.

I just read on another audio website that Ms Cozart Fine just passed away.
Truly, she was a titan of the recording industry and perhaps the most gifted audio producer ever.
She will be more than missed

 Hi there,
There is a review in the current issue of hifi+ (which was, quite maddeningly, copied from TAS) of the Guarneri Quartet - Mozart string quartets 19,20 and 21...I haven't picked up the CD as of yet, because I'd like to see if I can track down the vinyl...Any idea what the catalog #'s are for the original RCA Red Seal?
Regards,
Byron

Thank you, Paul, for your mention (TAS, April 2009) of Isabelle Faust's recording (with Jiri Belohlavek, on Harmonia Mundi) of the Beethoven Violin Concerto (along with the Kreutzer Sonata). It is indeed a stunning performance. It is the one modern - i.e., stereo - performance I know that stands with Heifetz/Rodzinski (best heard on Jacob Hornoy's Doremi restoration): it's fast-paced (as it should be), vital, passionate. It is Beethoven brought to life rather than Beethoven revered (Beethoven wants to be performed, damn it, not worshipped).

On occasion, used record bins offer the intrepid collector a bounty of riches. Over the past year, I have come across a number of recordings of both musical and sonic note, but genuine masterpieces remain the exception rather than the rule.
