I hooked up my oppo 970 by HDMI-1 from a Pioneer 1019.  I get no sound or picture through the HDMI-1 to TV and receiver.
I renamed the HDMI-1 to DVD.
What did I do wrong?   Any suggestions on how to correct situation?

I also hooked up my Sony 60 BD player through the BD HDMI and it works great.

Ok, home has 14 speakers total wired to a home run - not terminated right now. Could be 3 to 5 zones depending on how we carve it up. I also have 2 x cat5 runs to 5 TV sites with wall mounted 1080p capable TV's. I have coax to the 2 physically distant TV runs, and some type of monstrous HDMI cables without termination to 3 locations. No receivers, no video sources right now, and unfortunately no clue. I also have a standard PC - Server rack in the closet, waiting to get mounted and terminated.

All,
I come to this forum very humbled. Also, understand that it has taken nearly 4 years just to convince my wife to put more than $1k in this room for anything related to audio. I say that as I understand that my product selection may not be considered even middle of the road in quality, but it's better than the nothing I have now. Here is the situation:

I would like to flat mount a 32" LCD tv, yet to be purchased, and do not have space for a cable box . Cable company says a cable card will solve the problem but it appears many manufactures are no longer providing slots.  I would prefer not to get into wireless issues. Anyone have any wisdom here?

Playback digital magazine covers what's possible and what works best in a new article. You can read the article here, on page 234:

Thanks in advance for any help as this issue has been causing me grief. I have structured cabling in my home with 2 CAT6, 2 RG6 and 2 optical cables. They all terminate in my closet. I have Speakercraft AIM8 speakers in every room where the structured caballing terminates. I have a receiver (Onkyo TX-SR605) in one room that can output stereo audio to a second zone. I want to be able to send the audio from the receiver to another room but I do not have a speaker wires between the rooms. All I have is the cables I listed above.

Does anyone, especially reviewers like RH and/or CM have experience with Niles Audio's sound and how it compares to something like Rotel? I moved into a house with speakers in the walls and volume controls and I'm thinking about upgrading to a dedicated receiver and smart keypads. Niles seems easier to set up and has less components, but I have heard Rotel before and I like the sound quality. Rotel requires a receiver, amp, keypads and switching box.
