Does anyone own these speakers? If so, what are your impressions?
Okay, not exactly hifi, but I couldn't think of anywhere else to post it, and since many here are also budding musicians ...
I am looking for a pair of active monitor speakers to put on my desktop, next to the Mac. These will be mainly used for music making (practising, recording etc..) and will be fed from the Apple (Garageband, Guitar Rig etc..) through an Apogee Duet.
The Adam A7 looks promising, but I wonder if there are other suggestions.
Btw, this is only for personal home use - I'm not about to release a CD !
I own a marantz a/v receiver, connected to definitive technology procinema series speakers. I also have a pair of floor standing Wharfedale speakers. Recently I purchased a WD TV HD media player. The player is connected to the amplifier through an optical cable. I have observed that the sound quality is too sharp , almost metallic.
Can anybody please tell me why is it so, and how can it be corrected? Thanking you in advance.

Steven Stone reviews the Spendor SA1 Mini-Monitor in Issue 195 of The Absolute Sound (page 108). He says:
"I have yet to experience any speaker whose sonic characteristics are better suited to the demands of extended intimate listening."
Has anyone tried this amp & D/A? How does it sound? What source are you using? What speakers? Headhones?
In Playback digital magazine. You can read it here on page 214:
My impression is that for near-field listening (I'm about 2 ft from my speakers) coaxial drivers sound better. Is that just the speakers I'm using (Tannoy) or is there some principle at work here?
