Discuss audio furniture and accessories and how they affect sound

Has anyone (besides me) any experience with these? I like 'em. I know HP was going to review them, but hasn't said a word yet, so I'm wondering about others' experience.

Can anyone shed some light on this subject? Is this a myth? Time and time again I see a rack of 1m height in a 100k set. Yet every now and then I hear someone saying that one should not go too high when one's placing the rack in between the speakers?

I'd like to get an equipment rack that has good sonic qualities as well as aethetic ones, and in particular I'd like to get one with real wood shelving.  I'm currently considering the Finite Elemente Pagode Reference and the Walker Prologue Equipment Rack, which recently won a TAS recommended product.  Initially, the rack would have to hold a Boulder 865, an Esoteric X-03, and a Transparent 8 Power Conditioner.  A likely additional component is the Esoteric DAC 07, when it becomes available.

Has anyone had any direct experience with the Solidtech ROS Reference rack? It got a good review from TAS (issue 194) by Chris Martens, but I've seen so many more reviews for Finite Pagoda and Stillpoints ESS racks. I've ordered a Solidtech ROS Reference 4 largely based on the TAS review because there's no place in my area I can even audition one. I'm hoping the Solidtech ROS Ref will be the equal of the Stillpoints ESS since it's based on the same principal of resonance control.

A few days ago I have received Silent Running Audio (SRA) stands for my ARC 610Ts. I have to say that the improvements are not subtle at all (contrary to my expectations). I would suspect voodoo if SRA's sister company didn't have impeccable credentials doing classified work on nuclear submarines .. not sure if this is a coincidence, but the stands are called Ohio!

I just put a set of 3 small BDR Cones under my Parasound 2100 preamp. The BDRCs replaced a set of 4 Mapleshade IsoBlocks (those sandwich blocks w/ cork in the middle and rubber laminate top & botttom).

The BDRCs improved dynamics and clarity. Also, reduced that "shrill CD sound" (that's what I call it) on my reference recording with said sound ("Skin" by Beth Hart).

I was lucky to get these used for $38 including shipping.

At RMAF 2008 I attended an eye opening Setup & Tuning Seminar conducted by HiFi+ (Roy Gregory) who I see posts to this forum. Since then I've installed Nordost Ti Pulsar Points under my pre-amp, amp, and SACD player and installed B&W spikes under my N802's. I've also added an Audience aR1p between a dedicated 20-amp wall socket and my PS Audio Quintet and a Nordost Quantum QX4 between the Quintet and my pre-amp. This has resulted in significant improvements in soundstage width and depth, imaging, and articulation.

long time audiophile needs some advice on a new audio rack. I use Goldmund electronics which employ mechanical grounding within their products. They are said to work best on a mass loaded and rigid rack/platformrather than the vibration and resonance control racks that are prevalent these days. Can anyone explain this and recommend a reasonable audio rack and amp stands that will provide the best result. Thanks.

I am planning on purchasing some Sanus steel foundation stands for my new speakers. I have heard that placing sand or shot in the stands helps to reduce vibrations and movement in the stands - making them more sturdy. Is this a legit fix? Are the sonic benefits worth the money? If so where would one go about purchasing steel shot?
