Pretty much all recommended EHD's are advertised as for computer back up. Very little if any attention is aimed at hard drive extensions for HD DVR's. I am ordering the WDBAAFG0015HBK NESN to increase the HD capacity of my Dish Network 722 DH DVR. Can you all share any experiences with EHD's for HD DVR's?

Equipment needed?  Choices of equipment?  Approximate cost of same?  Is it possible to avoid using my iMac?  Quality of transfer?

I just received my new Oppo BDP-83 blu-ray player, which I will be using to watch Blu-ray movies and standard DVDs. I will be hooking this up to a HDTV front projector (native resolution 720p) but will be running the HDMI output from the blu-ray player through a high end video processor first (DVDO VP50) which serves as a HDMI switching source as well.

I have a Sunfire Theatre Grand II, an InFocus Screenplay 7200 with a native resolution of 720P and a 93" Stewart Greyhawk screen, viewed at a distance of between 10' and 11' . The Sunfire does not have HDMI inputs or outputs, though the projector does have an input. As a result, I have the video signals from my current sources routed through the Sunfire using component and composite cables, except for the Verizon FiOS set top box which is routed directly to the projector. As you can imagine SD TV signals are usually awful, though DVD at 480P is not bad.

Yesterday I received this from Time Warner:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON THE DTV TRANSITION:

On February 17, 2009, full-power TV stations will stop broadcasting in analog and switch to 100% digital broadcasting. For more information, contact Time Warner Cable at 1.800.TWCABLE or visit www.DTV.gov. As a Time Warner Cable customer, your TVs connected to cable will continue to display [the same/full-power/broadcast] stations. However, analog-only TVs that receive those stations via an antenna won't display them after 2/17/09 unless you take action.

Has anyone been able to compare high def picture quality between the Direct-tv,Dish network,Comcast cable and the phone companys video service? Or just between satellite and cable?

 I am looking for a display plasma or lcos based that allows the owner to disable or bypass any built in Video Processor / Scaler and thus permits the uninfluenced use of an external one e.g. Lumagen Radiance XD or DVDO iScan VP50. Is such a display available anywhere ?

Which RPTVs have the best internal scalers to keep up with movement on the screen, like a football game?

Thanks
Jim

Is there anyone besides DWIN that sells a complete front projector solution where the projector is physically separate from the image scaler? This makes a lot of sense. The scaler box can be next to the AVR, etc. and the projector can be at some distance from all the other electronics.

Jim
