In the next few days, I will have replaced my old Infocus 7210 and Stewart Firehawk 92" screen. I am waiting for the distributor to come and install the new JVC RS35 with Stewart Studiotek 130" screen. I have been using my Infocus 7210 for about 3 years without any complain except that, I can see the rainbow effect that sometime, will be pretty disturbing. Other than that, Infocus 7210 is a very good projector indeed.
I was looking to paint a basement wall to make a projection screen. Here's what I found:
This projector listed for $5K last year (I'm sure street price was even then about a $500 to $1000 less or thereabouts), but is now available for between $1.3 and $1.4K. I pulled the trigger and expecting it on or about the 14th of August. Does anyone own this projector and if so what are your impressions based on the best settings you've found? This should be a very good buy on a 1080p model as it has a very full feature accompianment.
I know it's an older projector, but if anyone out there is familiar with it, I have a question.
I recently found out how to access the hidden/service menu, but can't figure out how to make adjustments with it. The sliders for color/contrast adjustments don't respond to controls. Is there something else I need to do in order to make adjustments?
Thanks,
Brian L.
Hello. I was searching this fine site to see if I could find some guidance on the optimal or correct height to mount a screen. I recall over the years catching a few articles on the subject, but now that I am about to mount a screen, I cannot locate one.
How long should a lamp last in a front projector? I've got nearly 1200 hours on my Sony VPV-VW50 and the picture doesn't seem as bright as when the projector was new, and the color balance seems a little off.
Playback magazine received the following projector-related technical inquiry from one of its readers:
----------
Comments: I am a big fan of your publication, although I wish it was still available in print form. I have a Dwin TV-3 projector that is just now in need of a new bulb. It will cost $500 to replace. I've also been seriously thinking about purchasing a new Bluray player, but I'd like to know a few things about compatibility first. The Dwin is only 720p, not 1080p capable. I was assured at the time that I bought it that it had an “HDCP compliant” DVI input.
I am upgrading my projector. I currently have a perforated screen. One thing I don't like about it is that the image projects through the screen onto the wall behind. I understand there are woven screens that are acoustically "transparent". Do these sound better or worse than perforated screens? Are they better or worse visually? Will they solve my image-on-the-wall problem? Who makes them?
Thanks.
Playback digital magazine just posted its reviews of four 1080p projectors at pretty reasonable prices, which you can read here:
Both similarly priced, both have gotten excellent reviews. I'm looking at doing a new home theater when my home is complete, and building right at the 1.2x distance/width scale.
Basically, anyboth done a direct comparison???? Will be used for HD Direct TV programming, BluRay/HDDVD, and of course HD Gaming.
thanks
