The Amazing Oppo DV-980H Universal Player

Visiting A/V Paradise on a Budget

Conclusion

For music lovers seeking the finest sub-$200 player on the market, Oppo’s DV-980H is in a class by itself (unless or until a competitor builds something that can knock it off its throne). It’s also a great player for A/V enthusiasts who will appreciate the DV-980- H’s ability to make conventional DVDs look astonishingly good when upconverted to 720p, 1080i, or 1080p resolution levels. The visual effect, though not quite on a par with Blu-ray or HD DVD discs, is certainly the next best thing.

Chris your review is lacking a big feature of this player USB 2.0. What you and no other reviewer has even done is commented if the USB 2.0 port can support an FAT32 or NTFS formatted external HDD. Most come standard now at 500GB so why didn't you try this? This is more revolutionary if it works than DVD-A or SACD, as it eliminates the need for discs. That would be a HUGE benefit.
