Hi Dennis:
I am looking for a replacement CD player. What would you recommend over the Bryston?

I had the oppertunity to campare the Bryston BCD1, BAT VKD5 not SE version, and Cambridge 840C, using the same cables, speakers, interconnects, etc. The BCD1 was clearly superior top to bottom. It is possible the BAT was not fully broken in. It lacked depth in the lower octaves. The 840C had little passion. The BCD1 draws you into the music. All three players were set up in the balanced mode.
