The Peak/Volcano also has the virtue of being tweak-able via tube selection. Combine that with multiple inputs and preamp outputs and you have a design with very usable features.
You can of course find an amp for far less, and many of them will have built-in DACs. But for those who want to choose their DACs separately, and I think many will fall in that camp, the Peak/Volcano brings a high-end sensibility with only a partial high-end price.
Apex’s Peak/Volcano has resolution to match the best and delivers an overall sound that pairs well with a variety of headphones.

Tom,
If you able to recall, could you elaborate some thoughts of sound performance comparison between the Apex Peak and Woo WA22?
Thanks.
