It's tough describing the sound of turntables, because ideally we'd like them not to make any sound at all -- to simply get out of the way and allow the stylus and groove to waltz together as gracefully as possible. To underline a point, I believe the Redpoint is among the models out there that carry this off to a degree that only a few can match. Although I've reviewed some very fine designs, the Redpoint designs, and especially the Model D, are the ones that have brought me the most long-term musical satisfaction.
