Harman Kardon's HS 300 system is easy to set up and provides decent main speakers and a better-than-average subwoofer, but unfortunately matches them with an undershelming DVD-receiver whose below-average video performance and limited power output hold back overall system performance. As a result, the HS 300 is only an average performer with movie soundtracks, though it does a significantly better job with music.
