While some of the Maidstone's features are an evolution of familiar KEF products, it is not a conventional speaker. Its use of three stacked cabinets with exceptionally wide baffles is unusual, to say the least. But KEF states that the goals behind this design are to "reproduce the full bandwidth and dynamics of music signals," and "to go louder with more low-frequency extension, with greater accuracy, lower distortion, and lower coloration" without compromise.
