The Hitachi 42HDT79 still produces a pleasant picture overall. I wish it was a bit less expensive, but it?s in the ballpark of other mid-range 42-inch plasmas. If you like watching brightly lit, colorful material, the 42HDT79 is a good choice. If, however, you prefer dark movies, you may want to skip over this set -- a better choice might be to keep looking.
