Syntax-Brillian is a relative newcomer to the LCD flat-panel market. Using the Olevia brand name, the company has already established a reputation for good performance at a budget price. The 32-inch Olevia 532H under review here offers a lot of bang for the buck, though the user interface leaves much to be desired. The picture was very pleasing overall, though it fell short in shadow detail, a common
bugaboo of LCDs, and black level was better than many but not as
good as some. Still, at only $1000, it?s easy to forgive a few shortcomings. It?s not so easy to forgive the menu system, however.
