Like all Krell products, the KPE has a Class A solid-state unit, with dual cascaded amplification stages and passive RIAA equalization. It has sufficient gain (76dB) to be used with any moving-coil cartridge, and its gain can be easily adjusted via internal switches to match any cartridge's output. The KPE also allows you to match input impedance and resistance to your cartridge via another set of internal switches.
