In addition to playing back DVD-A and SACD, the DVD-5900 features two FireWire high-rez digital audio outputs (high-rez, as in, ''compatible with DVD-A and SACD signals''), and a ''Denon Link'' digital-audio output. According to Denon, the two FireWire outputs are compatible with Sony's trademarked i.LINK protocol, as well as a copyright-protection protocol called DTCP (Digital Transmission Content Protection). Any component connected to the Denon's FireWire outputs must also be DTCP-compliant. Denon says that the DVD-5900 is compatible with i.LINK devices from Pioneer, Sony, and Yamaha.
