The T 163 AV Tuner Preamplifier sports most of the preferred 7.1-, 6.1-, and 5.1-channel digital surround formats currently available. The NAD offers powered Zone 2 for both audio and video, as well as assignable 12V triggers that can link the T 163 with the T 973 in a seamless power-on/off sequence. The NAD's HTR2 back-lit remote control lacks an LCD readout and has iffy legibility; the credit card-sized ZR2 mini-remote handset controls all Zone 2 functions quite effectively. For true coolness consider the five custom A/V presets.
