The Michell SE (Spider Edition) is suspended at three points on a cast subchassis. It employs an inverted bearing design and pumps oil up to the thrust ball through a path inside the bronze bearing housing. The quiet motor has an on/off switch and a pulley about a quarter of an inch wide, which drives a rather thin belt. Records should be clamped to the platter, using the supplied reflex clamp. Elegant in appearance, both at play and at rest, this is a high-tech piece of modern, functional art.
