The 502D uses two drivers from Vifa-a 5.25-inch woofer/midrange and a one-inch soft-dome tweeter. The 502D is a "centered" speaker-that is, its predominant character arises from the center of the frequency spectrum (the midrange) and the center of the dynamic range. It eschews the extremes in tonality and loudness to provide an enjoyable and, most importantly, balanced listening experience.
