March 26 - Apparently Netflix has recently sent out a little customer survey that is trying to guage interest in streaming some of their rentals through the Xbox 360.

While they are obviously still in the information gathering stages, it does appear that streaming video is gaining more traction in the world of home theaters.

Of course there is no word on whether or not this partnership between Netflix and Microsoft will ever happen, but it does represent an interesting offer, adding even more weight to Microsoft’s support of downloadable media content for the home theater.

February 26 – Sony is following Goldmund’s lead today in announcing an exorbitantly priced home theater product. Sony announced their new NHS-130C home theater rack system.

Essentially, this product will be used to pipe Blu-ray or other 1080p signals throughout the entire house, up to 13 different unique zones.

In addition to video signals, this unit will also come equipped to pipe all the music you could ever desire throughout the house.

It uses a 400 CD disc changer for physical media, as well as an iPod dock and 160GB hard drive for digital music.

February 11 – Wal-Mart is preparing the unwashed masses for the death of analog TV signals with a very inexpensive digital-to-analog TV converter box.

Wal-Mart is now stocking the Magnavox converter box for a very low $49.87.

Of course, many people will be receiving $40 worth of vouchers from the government, bringing your conversion cost to digital TV signals to only $9.87.

This is definitely not a bad deal.

October 2 - Sony has finally released all of the information regarding their first ever venture into the world of OLED TVs, the XEL-1.

With a very highly touted 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio while maintaining a miniscule 3mm thick profile, Sony’s 11-inch OLED TV will be an interesting little oddity in the market.
