April 10 - Amazon is now joining the growing ranks of major retailers to offer partial refunds to those consumers who purchased HD DVD players.

Notification was sent out to these users via email. In this email the unlucky purchasers of HD DVD players are receiving a special promotion code that will be redeemable for $50.

Of course there is no way to cash this $50 refund, so you are basically getting $50 store credit from Amazon.

April 9 – Wal-Mart has decided to grant a significant boon to those who chose HD DVD in the now deceased format war.

April 1 - LG’s Super Blu BH200 has the distinction of being the world’s first—and likely only—second generation combo Blu-ray/HD DVD player. Does this even matter, given that Toshiba (the driving force behind HD DVD) is now moving away from HD DVD? Given the hundreds of titles already released in HD DVD, some of them available only in that format, we think it does.
