April 29 - Blockbuster announced today plans to begin selling both video games and video game consoles in their stores.

In addition to selling the Sony PlayStation 3, Microsoft’s Xbox 360, and Nintendo’s Wii and DS, Blockbuster will also make a wide selection of games available for purchase.

July 16 – In a move aimed for the mobile gamer market, Intel has decided to being offering the Core 2 Duo Extreme line of processors in a mobile version.

The X7800 is normally clocked at about 2.6 GHz, but this chip also allows for users to overclock your PC to obtain speeds that can exceed the blistering 3.0GHz.

Unfortunately these types of chips have been limited to desktops in the past due to excessive heat that they cause. Most desktops need cooling options that definitely aren’t factory installed to overclock these processors properly, so the thought of these being thrown into laptops almost seems silly.

It will be very interesting to see the variant methods that the manufacturers come up with to provide the cooling needed to support this incredibly fast white-hot processor. Read more here.

June 25 - EXO, a new company dedicated to make the most excessively fast gaming machines in the world, says that they will start selling their PCs in about 8 weeks.

Former Alienware PC designer Garret Bain left his former berth to start EXO, and from all appearances he has created a quality boutique PC making shop.

The new EXO systems will have the typical high end gaming machine features such as a quad core option, ridiculous amounts of RAM, and tons of overclocked parts, but there are two ways in which EXO is differentiating itself.

June 7 - Sony has had a very mixed day of announcements, with both new product announcements, as well as gloomy reports of layoffs.

The good news is that Sony is offering a whole boatload of new HDTVs, 14 to be exact. Nine new Bravias are making their way to Japan, with a whole range of sizes and features.

The big inclusions are the x.v.Color system, Sony’s Internet Video Link feature, and the XMB crossbar interface. All of these sets are using 10 bit 1080p panels. Check here for pricing and sizes.
