April 16 - Eric Cooney, CEO of Tandberg TV, has made an interesting speculation about the future of HD broadcasting. He speculates that within the next few years, satellite TV companies could offer full 1080p broadcasts.

While this wouldn’t apply to all programming, it would be very possible to offer content already meant for 1080p viewing, namely movies, to the general public.

April 10 - VUDU is flexing their IPTV muscles today in a new announcement. As a consequence of a recently announced partnership with NetStreams, the VUDU XL will soon be able to stream content to multiple rooms in your house.

This new multiroom home video distribution solution is made possible by coupling the VUDU XL with a DigiLinX IP-Based Distributed Audio, Video and Control system.

April 8 – Sony has decided that the time is right to launch a new line of Blu-ray recording devices with some pretty novel features.

The new BDZ series will be able to burn content pulled from a TV directly to a Blu-ray disc or store it on its 320GB or 500GB hard drive.

This will only be available if that content in unprotected, but it still qualifies as a fairly interesting device.

February 14 – Harmon Kardon is celebrating their allegiance to the Blu-ray camp with a couple of new offerings.
