May 19 - Sharp has unveiled a new trio of AQUOS Blu-ray players that have built-in DVR functionality.

While the Blu-ray playback side is fairly standard, Sharp is doing some interesting things on the DVR side.

May 7 – The European division of Sony Computer Entertainment has just announced the release date for the long awaited PlayTV box for the PS3.

The PlayTV is essentially a dual TV tuner that will enable the user to record TV shows onto the PS3’s hard drive.

This content can be viewed through the PS3 or viewed on another device using the PlayTV box’s possible WiFi connection. The PlayTV box will also include a 7-day programming guide and can be transferred over to a PSP if desired.

There isn’t an official word on the US release date, but it looks like September for the UK, with a price of around $150.

April 22 – D-Link has announced that they are now shipping their DPG-1200 PC-on-TV component. The MediaLounge PC-on-TV will connect to your TV through one of many possible connections such as VGA, component, or composite.

Your PC is then synced up with the device through a WiFi connection. At this point, you can access and view content streamed from the web directly on the TV. Photos can be viewed at a max resolution of 1024×768, while videos can be viewed at 640×480.

April 17 – Japan is getting some serious treatment from Toshiba, who announced today that they will be updating their REGZA line of LCDs with 10 new models.

While these models include the normal feature set standard in the REGZA line, Toshiba has updated these TVs with some interesting new features.

Each of these HDTVs will come with a 300GB hard drive and DVR capabilities, allowing the users to conduct all of their recording functions on the TV itself. All of the 10 new models will utilize this function with the exception of the bottom 3 in the new series.
