Classe’s Latest Preamp/Processor Launches This Month
May 22nd, 2008 — By Charlie Robb
May 22 - Classe’s highly anticipated SSP-800 preamp/processor is going to launch sometime this month. From the looks of it, the SSP-800 is going to be a very powerful unit. Check out our video of the SSP-800 with a litany of specs from CEDIA 2007.
With support for 1080p video signals and 10 channels each with balanced and single-ended connections, Classe will be able to bring quite a bit of versatility to the SSP-800. The unit is powered by a 64-bit Texas Instrument processor to drive the DSP.
Luckily, Classe had the foresight to house the DSP in a module that is replaceable to allow for relatively easy upgrades as they become available.
Further hardware includes a dual-output switching supply to power the control and digital circuits, with a separate toroidal transformer for the analog audio circuits.
The SSP-800 can be controlled through the remote control or a touchscreen interface located on the front panel.
Classe’s SSP-800 preamp/processor will be available sometime this month for around $8,000.

There are six business days left in the month, and Classe doesn’t know when this will come out?
Comment by Tom May 22nd, 2008 @ 7:34 pmThe release date was not in the press release nor is it even listed in Classe’s site yet. There are rumors circulating various forums that it might not be released until next monthn but these are of course only rumors.
