May 16th, 2008 — By Charlie Robb
May 16 - Samsung has unveiled the final specs for their upcoming BD-P1500 fourth generation.
First announced at CES this year, the BD-P1500 will play host to all of the features one would expect in the newest generation of Blu-ray players.
Capable of 1080p playback with both 24fps and 60fps modes, the BD-P1500 will also feature a powerful upconverter.
Naturally this unit comes with support for a wide range of audio codecs, including Dolby Digital, Digital Plus, and TrueHD. Support for DTS-HD Master Audio will come later in 2008 via a firmware update available by download through the unit’s ethernet port.
While this unit will only ship with Blu-ray Profile 1.1, it is reportedly already BD Live capable. Samsung’s BD-P1500 Blu-ray player will be available in June for the uncomfirmed price of $399.
