September 13th, 2007 — By Scott WilkinsonSeptember 13 - We got our first look at two new combo players that can handle both Blu-ray and HD DVD—the second-gen LG BH200 ($1000, October) and Samsung’s BD-UP5000 Duo ($1000, November).
The LG (above) improves on its predecessor by implementing complete HD DVD interactivity. Learn more about the LG BH200 here, and check out our complete review of the first-generation, groundbreaking player LG BH100.
The Samsung provides HQV processing and a 7.1-channel analog audio output, but will it support both HD DVD and Blu-ray players? See here for more.
With the format war set to drag on indefinitely at this point, combo players are your best bet to watch whatever movies you want regardless of the format on which they’re released.
