September 5th, 2007 — By Charlie Robb
September 5 – LG came out with an explosive start to their CEDIA offerings, officially unveiling the 2nd generation Super Blu Player, which plays both HD DVD and Blu-ray discs.
The improvements to the player’s capabilities are significant. For Blu-ray discs, the new BH200 now includes support for the highly touted interactive features that Blu-ray manufacturers recently announced. On the HD DVD side, the BH200 will be able to utilize the HDi interactive features.
In terms of the new hardware, the BH200 makes use of the new HDMI 1.3 technology, and will have full 1080p playback. The Super Blu Player will also have support for 24fps cinema mode, with the typical 30 or 60 fps for other playback.
Some other fantastic news comes from the pricing department. The suspected $1,299 pricetag is in fact only going to be $999, and it will be available in October, much sooner than expected.
