Jan 9 - Shipping this spring, Pioneer’s VSX-1017TXV AVR has all the bases covered for the modern “with-it home theater enthusiast. The $499 AVR features HDMI pass-through, is THX Select 2 certified, and has everything you need to tune in your favorite satellite radio station. If you favor XM, you’re in luck. You can enjoy on-screen display setup and HD surround sound by Nerual Audio, designed especially for XM enhancement. But you Sirius users are also in luck, because this AVR is Sirius ready. You can also plug in your iPod with the optional Pioneer IDK-80 universal iPod docking station. How’s that for being cool?
The VSX-1017TXV comes with Pioneer’s acclaimed Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration (MACC), making it a breeze to set up. Also helping you achieve the quality surround sound effects you are after are Pioneer’s proprietary DSP technologies, including Sound Retriever and Front Stage Sound Advance. This puppy pumps 120 watts through 7 channels, which promises to fill the biggest home theater room you might want to throw at it. Not bad for less than $500.
