January 10th, 2007 — By Robert HarleyDisc Player is a Typical NAD Value

Jan 9 - NAD, long known for their high-performance, high-value products, introduced the T 585 Universal Disc Player ($1199; available now). The unit plays CD as well as stereo or multichannel SACD and DVD-Audio. The T 585 has parallel signal paths for DVD-A and SACD signals, with separate, dedicated digital-to-analog conversion for each format (many machines convert SACD signals to PCM to make decoding simpler). The DACs are 192kHz/24-bit capable. Extensive bass-management options are provided, including user-selectable crossover frequencies and slopes. On-board Dolby Digital and DTS decoding are provided, as is HDMI output.
