[CES 07] Hansen Shows New Speaker, System

Jan 9 - Though many assumed that Hansen Audio would display the “King� loudspeaker featured in the current issue of The Absolute Sound, as well as gracing the cover, the folks at Hansen had a few surprises in store. Designed for rooms that cannot accommodate the King’s mid/tweeter/mid d’Appolito-type arrangement, the $49,000 Emperor is a 3-way, four-driver system using the same dual 10� woofers, 7� midrange, and 1� tweeter found in the King. The $20,000 Knight is a 3-driver, 3-way, sporting two 7� drivers (one for bass, the other mid) and the same tweeter.
Also seen was the $15,000 2-way Elixir. Initial sonic impressions of the Emperor (the only model being played today) were of a big, bold, clear sounding speaker of tremendous authority that’s also capable of fine detail. All shipping first quarter of 2007.
