[CES 07] Sharp Intros World’s Largest LCD
January 8th, 2007 — By Scott WilkinsonMine’s Bigger Than Yours

It seems that every year, some flat-panel manufacturers engage in a bit of one-upmanship to see who can claim the largest screen size. Mostly, these behemoths are engineering prototypes that will never see the light of retail, but Sharp announced today that its 108-inch LCD panel, the world’s largest, will actually be a real product. They even revealed its availability this summer, though they did not disclose any pricing info.
As you might expect, this monster’s resolution is 1920×1080, a feature it shares with the new LC-32GP1U LCD TV, which is optimized for gaming. At 32 inches, it’s the smallest 1080p flat panel available, giving Sharp the widest range of 1080p screen sizes. The LC-32GP1U will be available in March for $1700; the 37-inch version will ship at the same time for $2000.
