Rocky Mountain Audio Fest: Lynn Debuts Majik Electronics
October 21st, 2006 — By Robert Harley
Although the show featured much expensive and elaborate gear, the best sound I heard on the show’s first day was delivered by the most “normal looking system I saw. That sound was delivered by Lynn Products new Majik series of electronics, which made their North American debut at the Audio Fest. The Majik CD ($3500), Majik Kontrol preamp ($3100), and Majik 2100 power amplifier ($2650) drove a pair of Lynn’s Ninka loudspeakers ($2000). A pair of power amplifiers drive the Ninkas in active configuration, with Lynn’s outboard electronic crossover splitting up the frequency spectrum and one amplifier driving both woofers and the other amp driving both tweeters.
The Majik products are an attempt to bring Lynn’s flagship technologies developed for their more expensive products (specifically the stunningly great CD12 CD player, Klimax preamp, and Chakra power amplifiers) into mid-priced products.
The sound I heard was extremely engaging and communicative, with lots of detail resolution without being analytical. I spent more time listening in the Lynn room than in any other, simply because I kept wanting to hear “just one more track. That’s a good sign. Watch for a full review of the Majik components—they just might live up to their name.

Is the Majik CD player for CDs only or will it play SACD?
Comment by Tom October 22nd, 2006 @ 10:05 amThe new Majik CD doesn’t play SACD, only CD. Linn wanted to optimize the performance for one format only.

Comment by Robert Harley October 23rd, 2006 @ 9:17 amThe Majik CD player will play CDs only but check out the Linn Unidisk range for a solution that does CD, SACD, DVD and DVD-Audio.

Comment by Robert October 28th, 2006 @ 10:25 pmLINN just released a Majik-I integrated amplifier. basically the 2100 w/chakra ps and kontrol in one box! Can’t wait for the reviews! if it carries on the heritage of the original majik, then it will be a enormous success for LINN.
