[CEDIA 06] Pioneer Adds New Features to AVRs, Refines High-End Elite Line
September 17th, 2006 — By Robert Harley
Pioneer introduced four new receivers in the Elite line, each offering new features and capabilities over the previous generation. All four AVRs feature the third generation of Pioneer’s Multi-Channel Acoustic Calibration (MCACC), an automatic room-tuning feature that optimizes the system’s frequency response in any room.
Other features include a dedicated iPod input, XM Satellite Radio with Neural Audio multichannel decoding, and HDMI switching. The top-of-the-line VSX-84TXV ($1500) and VSX-82TXS ($1200) also incorporate Faroudja DCDi video scaling, allowing the receivers to upconvert any incoming video format to 480p, 720p, or 1080i output.
The entire Elite line, including the VSX-81TXV ($950) and VSX-80TXV ($650), have multi-room, multi-source capability, a learning remote with LCD display, and RS232 control.
