[CEDIA 06] Mitsubishi HC5000 is Least Expensive 1080p Projector
September 17th, 2006 — By Scott Wilkinson
Another demo in the Silicon Optix area was the Mitsubishi HC5000, a 1080p LCD projector that lists for only $4500, making it the least expensive 1080p projector at the show. Utilizing SO’s budget Reon VX processor chip, the HC5000 looked quite good in the dark Silicon Optix environment. (It didn’t look as good in their booth on the show floor, which was subject to much more ambient light.) Other than the processor and LCD panels, everything else in the projector was designed and manufactured by Mitsubishi, including the lens. The company claims that the HC5000 is the world’s quietest projector at 19dBA, and the 160W UHP lamp is side-mounted for easy replacement after about 5000 hours.
