[CEDIA 06] Belkin Compact Surge Protectors
September 17th, 2006 — By Barry Willis
It’s amazing how long it sometimes takes for the obvious to become eminent. Take the ever-increasing use of block-style AC adapters, for example. Most outlet strips and surge protectors are designed to handle simple power cords. Their outlet spacing won’t allow use of many AC adapters.
Belkin addresses this problem with its new “Concealed Surge Protector and “Compact Surge Protector. Shipping in October, the new products feature longer cords and more space for block-style adapters. The $49.99 Concealed Surge Protector has 11 outlets, a 10’ cord, and a closing cover that prevents children and pets from tampering with the outlets. The product comes with a $300,000 connected equipment warranty.
The $39.95 Compact Surge Protector stays out of the way—on the floor, against a wall, under a desk, or behind your couch. Unused outlets stay clean and safe with sliding covers. Integrated cable management keeps everything neat and tidy. This model has a 6’ cord, 8 protected outlets (4 of them block-space) and comes with a $200,000 connected equipment warranty.
