[CEDIA 06] Runco 1080p Juggernaut
September 16th, 2006 — By Scott Wilkinson
Runco had a lot to say at their press conference. They began by announcing that Runco and sibling company Vidikron are the first manufacturers to receive THX certification for video displays, which assures a high level of performance through standardized testing and collaboration. Next, they unveiled updated 42″ and 50″ plasmas with 1366×768 resolution and built-in Vivix processor. Even more exciting was the XP50 1080p 50″ plasma, though no pricing or availability was revealed.
Then, they introduced no less than seven new 1080p DLP projectors, from the RS1100 single-chip ($11,995 without CineWide; $14,995 with) all the way up to the VX-55d triple-chipper ($99,995 without CineWide/AutoScope; $114,995 with). Pictured are the VX-2000CX (left) and RS810 with CineWide (right). All can be fitted with Runco’s CineWide anamorphic lens to project a 2.35:1 image without letterbox bars, and many can utilize the AutoScope option, which automatically moves the CineWide lens into and out of position. Several models were demonstrated, and all looked fabulous.
