[CEDIA 06] StereoStone Speakers Rock Out
September 14th, 2006 — By Arnie Williams
For the nature lover who wants to hear music on the patio without making the outdoors look like an audio store showroom, StereoStone has just the product that even Bambi could love. The Da Vinci Cinema Rock outdoor speaker, on display here at CEDIA at Booth 161, looks so much like a rock, you have to thump it just to be sure it’s not. These speakers are meant to sit out doors permanently in your patio, pool, or garden area, so they are protected not just from rain, snow, and ice, and the sun, but also from insects. For the sun, I’m thinking Arizona; for insects, my home state of Texas. They grow bugs big here, but the Da Vinci Cinema Rock speaker can handle it.
But these speakers are about more than just blending into your backyard environment. Unlike the typical box speaker, the Cinema Rock uses a semi elliptic parabaloid internal shaped enclosure and computer-assisted acoustic performance. What does that techno babble really mean? It means it sounds good, with bass frequencies that drop down to the 35Hz level. The one-inch Titanium tweeter with neodymium earth magnet takes care of the high frequencies.
So bring on the nachos, the libations, the sunscreen, and oh yeah, the music.
