[CEDIA 06] Canton CD 3200 Self-Powered Loudspeakers
September 13th, 2006 — By Chris Martens
Canton, the largest speaker manufacturer in Germany, has announced its slender new two-and-a-half-way, five-driver, self-powered CD 3200 tower-type loudspeaker. Power for the speaker is provided by a built-in, high-efficiency, 200-watt amplifier featuring ICEpowerâ„¢ class D amplifier technology from Bang & Olufsen.
The driver array and enclosure design for the CD 3200 are similar to those of Canton’s passive CD 300 speaker, but with some engineering changes, says Canton, “to make optimal use of the increased power and response the internal amplifier provides.
See the upcoming The Absolute Sound Issue 166, for a special feature article on class D amplification.
