How do I become a Golden Ear?

You pay a modest yearly membership fee and agree to abide by Club rules. The annual membership fee is $49.95.

What is the The Absolute Sound's Golden Ear Club (GEC)?

It’s an exclusive “members-only” group of avid audiophiles, mostly readers of TAS (plus Playback, and Hi-Fi+, too!) who receive special benefits with club membership.

Why?

Many of you have expressed an interest in special TAS events, getting inside info from our Editors, reviewing gear, having access to passes for trade shows, and more.

What do I get?

System Set-Up and Evaluation Kit

Each year we create a kit of useful material for our members. In 2010, this kit is focused on Set-Up and Evaluation. The kit includes a guide edited by the TAS staff as well as RPG’s Room Optimizer software for speaker positioning and location of acoustic treatment and other helpful goodies.

Article Previews

Each week, we post new articles exclusively for club members. Usually these are drafts of articles or reviews that will appear in the absolute sound or Hi-Fi + in a month or so. Sometimes they are white papers written for the club by sponsoring manufacturers. And occasionally they are blogs on topics of interest.

Editor Briefings

On a monthly basis, one of our editors does a tele-briefing for club members on a specific topic. Each editor also entertains questions submitted by members.

Factory Tours

Periodically, a sponsoring manufacturer opens his doors to club members for an insider view of the design and manufacturing process. These tours also may include demonstrations and Q&A sessions.

Special Edition Products

From time to time a manufacturer will offer limited production products to our members via their dealers.
