My Vizio VP50-HD 10A is showing a lot of yellow blotches, especially in faces and body. Does anyone know if there is an adjustment for this in the controls, or can a video tech tune this so the flesh tones are normal again?
Your model has many advanced picture settings that a professional can use to properly calibrate your television. This can cost you $150-$300.
Did this suddenly appear? Or did it show up after making some adjustments? There are some good calibration DVDs in the market that can help you adjust the settings on your own. You can purchase one here: http://www.hdtvsupply.com/dvdhothtudv.html
If it suddenly appeared it is likely a problem with the TV. Vizio's commonly break down.
The good thing is they come with free lifetime tech support and Vizio will come to your home to attempt a repair or send it off site for free and if they can't repair it they will replace it.
It did start suddenly. Vizio says it's out of warranty, so no free fix. They referred me to techs that will come to the house to fix it. It will be between $450 and $780, if they swap one board or all of them. I don't know if it's worth fixing it. If the pic went bad already, what's to say it won't go bad again just after the new 90 day warranty I will get after the fix.
Personally I wouldn't repair it unless you can repair it and purchase an extended warranty to cover it for more than a year.
I know thier price is right but you have no idea how many TVs I sell to replace Vizio TVs. Use it as a secondary TV or sell it on Craiglist as is.
Of the bargain brands I really like Olevia TVs. I haven't had any problems with these sets. But I would save the money and go with a brand like Samsung or Panasonic their price points are very fair.
I feel badly for you. If and when you are ready to buy something else get in contact with me through my website below. I may be able help find you a good deal.
