Yamaha 863

I can get the 863 new for $420.  I know all of the specs for it, but am wondering, is the lack of DCDi important?  I want this one to last 10+ years and am replacing and old Pioneer VSX-21.  What do you think?  I also get any other model of yahama (663@$265, etc.), I am going to check the discounts again, but should I bump up a step?

You want something with that allows you to connect the display and your Blu Ray via HDMI 1.3a.
You may not need the these connections now but you will in the future.  HDMI makes live easy.    And no need to spend big bucks on "affordable interconnects" and good quality HDMi interconnect for less than $75 should suffice.  Haven't heard or seen any differences between a $60 HDMi and big buck affordable one.

I agree with Sheepherder that you should get an AVR with HDMI 1.3. Whether DCDi will improve the picture or not depends on the quality of the scaler in your video display, which varies wildly.
