Wireless multiroom AV

Christopher Jones -- Sun, 08/13/2006 - 22:20

After reviewing Slim Device's Squeezebox recently, and looking at the specs on their new, high end box, the Transformer, i'm starting to wonder if wires will be necessary at all for multiroom audio systems. The Squeezebox sounded awfully good to my ears, and it's only a $250 device. And with so many people setting up WiFi networks in their homes, the infrastructure is already in place for these systems.

Is there any reason why wireless won't become a more popular choice for multiroom audio?

If you are already impressed with squeezebox , try it with a good inexpensive dac like benchmark, stello, bel canto it is a very worthwhile investment if you really seek quality.

OK, I don't know diddly about electronics. I'd love too, but now I'm old and too busy taking care of my husband to learn. I think. All I want to do is this: Surf the internet on my television. My desktop is in other room. I have digital cable and wireless router. I also have MicroSoft Media Center on my computer. I also want to know how to downloan songs on a mp3 from my computer. You guys are brilliant. Help

Want to know more.

Check out the SageTV Media Extender.

sagetv.com

This may require that you have an Ethernet cable connection near your TV. I don't know if you do.
