I am not so sure that all reviewers love them -- I've read many remark that the various Wilsons don't do it for them, and I seriously doubt any reviewer of note bends a review to get a good deal, I just assume they can get deals anyhow on anything they review (the 'industry-accommodation' price) if they want to keep it. It's just a part of the process that keeps reviewing alive, for better or worse.
Wilson seems to make some pretty good speakers, from what I 've heard. If you forget price for a moment, the Watt Puppy and the Sophia are decent products. I just don't think they are the best to my ears and I do believe the prices, among other things, have to cover the multiple ads (they are really running multiple pages in many mags, and online too) and a level of service they offer. Are their speakers worth $135k? Not to me, but then no speaker is worth that price, and I've had the pleasure of hearing these. Are Wilson true innovators in speaker research and design? I am not so sure either but they have really found a niche and one has to give credit to their success in what is, to most people, a fairly irrelevant product domain.

You are right to correct me : wilson are some kind of good product but not for the price they sell it.
You are also right to say that wilson provide a high quality servive (for the buyer AND the reseller).
A little correction on price/value which I'm sure will sound familiar. If someone buys them at that price, then they are worth that price. To them. End of story.
New cast frame to fit the old box cutout, well that is NEW, other than that it is a SEAS ER18RNX (http://www.madisound.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=8181).
Are you going to disclose this? If this is not a rip-off what is? A $150K loudspeaker with $60 mids (more like $20 Wilson cost). Yes, yes, I know, he thinks that it is the best driver to use. Regardless of cost. Just like the marvels $25 tweeters he keeps modifying. Are we, audiophiles, so stupid to deserve this?
I've read the story that Dave Wilson decided to design a version II of the Alexandria after having the opportunity to attend rehearsals with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra in the Grosse Musikvereinsaal. He realized after these listening sessions that there was something in live sound that he wasn't able to "catch" with his speakers. Plain ridiculous! As if Dave Wilson never attended live concerts before...
I have got the chance to listerns to a lot of high end speakers what it comes down to is your own ears, some will tell you bose 901 are
the best , It is up to you which one sound best to you, not what others say, wilson is still a good sounding speakers, wilson audio is up
there
He can't change his Alexandria for the Arrakis becuase he is getting paid to much in advertising and Rockport will not pickup the new bill. This is a crazy hobby.
I enjoy reading these blogs from time to time and rarely post. But after reading leld's comments, I'm obliged to comment. For goodness sake, you ignorant oaf, if you can't be a gentleman in this forum, don't waste our time. You need not agree with anyone's opinions, but show a little respect for the moderator. If you haven't learned anything from Robert's writings over many years, and took nothing away that made your appreciation of music and its reproduction just a little bit better, that's fine. But there's no need to insult the guy with idiotic accusations which are simply rude and totally inappropriate to the purpose of this forum. Finally, perhaps rather than enlightening us with your dim wit in the future, I suggest you might best use your time improving your grammar and spelling.
They have changed the 15 $ tweeter for 16,50$ one... that is why the price have increase : 125 000 $ to 145 000$.
I wonder why all the reviewer that love wilson own wilson speaker... special price for them for a better review?
The other reviewers when you read them outside of their e-magazine hate wilson, -also for good technical reason-
strange isn't it?

Here is an email I just sent to Marc Mickelson of Sound stage after reading http://soundstage.com/editrl/ss_update_110907.htm. Do you think I will get an answer?
Marc,
New mids??

I suppose one need ask RH if the Arrakis will replace his X-2 Series ll Alexandria in light of his recent blog

LELD,
whoever you are.i think you're on the wrong forum.....take that shit someplace else
If I were corrupt as you suggest, "leld," why would I even mention Rockport, a company that has not advertised in TAS for more than 12 years?
