Will This Work?

Hi all,

Read this from one of the forums:
"a ssuming that SQ isn't a/is a lesser priority when watching DVDs the AVR pre-outs can be connected to an AUX-IN of the int-amp. (or any available input) this leaves the CDP connectin intact"

To share my main speakers btw HT and Audio, Can I use the above mentioned mtd.
Assumming the DVDP->AVR-> AVR Pre-out of L/R Channel -> Input of Int Amp -> Main Speakers.... will it work?

also the volume of the main speaker will be controlled by the AVR or the INT Amp?

thanks

To answer your questions as briefly as possible, yes you can do that. The volume adjustments made using the AVR will affect the integrated, but the volume control on the integrated will also act as a master, e.g., if you set the integrated volume control at 9:00 that would be the maximum volume you would achieve from the speakers connected to the integrated, even with the AVR volume set at 3:00.

I hope I haven't confused you. BTW, I've done this before and found that getting the correct balance in an HT setup can be a little tricky sometimes.

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for the reply.

I get what you mean on the balancing part. the 'fortunate' part is I would only need to balance the Center with the front L/R. as I am only have a 3.1 HT.

Actually, my main concern is the potential damage to my main speaker if i used the mentioned connection method. But from what you wrote, I guess I will be safe so long as I ensure that the vol control of the Int Amp is not set to too high a level.

Thanks.
