I just bought a marantz PM5004 to go with my Pro-ject debut III. I initially bought the pro-ject phono box II so I could use my TT with my old receiver, but now that I upgraded to an integrated amp, that has a phono input, is it still advisable to use the preamp and run it though the aux input or would the sound be better or similar if I ran it directly into the amp itself.
Thanks in advance for your input.
Since the Marantz has a designated phono input you should probably try it out and then compare it to your outboard phono unit.
You tell us which sounded better...:)

Thanks for the reply, I would love to test them out, but it would require substantially altering my setup as my TT is not very close to my amp.
As a side question: how would I extend the cables that are attached to my TT since it has a ground cable attached? are there such extention cables?
I would really appreciate some input on people's experiences and opinions, of whther it's better connected directly into the amp, or through my Pro-ject Phono box II.
Thanks so much for the help,
Jeremy
You can extend RCA cables with a female to female RCA adapters - shouldn't cost too much for the basic variety - then you can lengthen any RCA cable.
As for the ground cable, it can lengthened via any wire as long as it connects to the chassis or grounding spot on the preamp.
