I have saved enough to invest in a pair of good headphones. I am considering Grado SR80, SR325 and RS-2. Where can I audition these phones physically before buying one? I live in a Chicago suburb. Unfortunately (and surprisingly) Grado doesnt have any dealer info on their website.
Also, if I am spending in tune of $500 on a pair of RS-2, is it also required to buy a headphone amp to be able to enjoy the headphone's true capability?
I asked John Grado about dealers. He replies:
"We have about 400 active dealers throughout the States. We don't put dealer info on the site because it would require daily updating and we just don't have the time. Anyone who needs dealer info can send us an email through the contact button (info [at] gradolabs [dot] com) on the website, give us a location and we will respond.
Kind regards,
John"

Also, I know Chicago is a big place, but Music Direct is there (near the Loop) and they are a big Grado dealer. You could call them and see if they can help.
