This looked like the correct forum area to post and if not, my apologies.
What's going on with Chesky Records?
Are they having problems and running out of money to fill orders?
I've been an audiophile for 20 years and like all of you, I look to purchase great recordings .
Chesky Records was always one of the best.. Like most mail order companies (prior to online purchasing), Chesky Records always delivered your purchase within a week or two.
But, somewhere along the way, Chesky Records delivery and customer service has become horrible.... beyond flaky.
In the last 5 years, I have had to bug Chesky continually to get them to deliver on orders that were purchased several months before.
The first time I noticed this, my order from Chesky was completely forgotten. Then one day, I was cleaning out my old emails and came across a 4 month old confirmation email sent to me by Chesky.
Had I not found that, I would not have ever received my order. They were nice enough about it and sent me a sampler CD to try and make up for that mistake.
But since then, I have found that I have to set up calendar dates to remind me in two or three weeks to call them to get my orders delivered. And that always takes several calls and 4 to 8 weeks to get the delivery.
But now Chesky Records doesn't answer the phone, return phone calls or emails (I have made three phone calls and sent two emails over the last two months trying to get this latest order).
Is there something that I haven't read about them becoming an unreliable provider of music?
Should I avoid Chesky Records for music?
I went online and did find this tonight, by someone else who had a problem with them 5 years ago as well:

If you go to computer audiophile website you will see all sorts of issues with chesky and hdtracks. Their customer service tends to polarize...people either laud it or loathe it. The biggest issue seems to be poor response to reoccurring issues of poor follow up, tech support etc. Like alot of audio companies out there of all sizes and locations, their response to email is horrible.
I seem to remember an issue similar to this on this website a few years ago as well.
Regretfully chesky/hdtracks has chosen to NOT respond to these issues which is only making things worse.
For the record, I have bought a number of their products and when I did have an issue the problem was corrected with 2 phone calls.
Your not alone. I ordered two albums, received no receipt, no response to emails, no response to telephone messages left until the mailbox was full. Too bad, great products deserve better.
Fwiw, I've regularly bought (downloads) from HDtracks, paid by PayPal, never had a problem, and therefore never had to contact support/customer service.
