Watt/Puppy3 need overhaul

Hi,
I have a pair of Watt/Puppy 3 that need an overhaul. The dealer I bought them from said it will cost $3000 - $3500. Is it worth it?
Am I better off spending a similar amount on new speakers?
My system is ML 380 / 23.5 & various sources (Linn, ML, Squeezebox)

I think all components will be replaced.

Are the drivers bad?

I contacted Wilson Audio via a dealer & they can upgrade the speaker to 5 series for about 7K.
Is it worth it? Seems it will be very hard to find a better speaker for this amount.
